FAQ

Who is eligible to participate in the Wait 21 program?

Anyone under the age of 21. Students under the age of 13 are required to have parental permission.

Can I still join the Wait 21 Pledge Program if I have used alcohol or drugs in the past?

Yes! We encourage everyone to take the pledge and start living a life free from addiction regardless of your past.  All participants receive a letter of recognition and scholarship opportunities.

What type of recognition do I get from Wait 21 for participating successfully in the program?

Wait 21 provides you with a letter of recognition that you can include with college applications.  This letter shows the number of years you successfully participated… so the earlier you join the movement, the greater the recognition you will receive!

After I join the Wait 21 program and take the pledge, why do I have to take 3 follow up surveys each year?

The required follow up surveys allow us to keep track of your commitment to living the Wait 21 lifestyle.  It also allows us to learn more about the challenges you are facing so we can help develop better campaigns and programs to help.

After I sign up for the Wait 21 Movement and take the pledge, when do I take the next follow-up survey?

Follow-up surveys are emailed to participants October 1st, January 1st, and June 1st.

How long do I have to complete the follow-up survey?

You have 30 days to complete the required follow-up survey.

What if I do not complete the follow up survey within the 30 days?

Not completing the follow-up survey within 30 days disqualifies you from the Wait 21 Movement program. This means that you will no longer receive recognition from Wait 21 and you will no longer be eligible to win Scholarships.

If I get disqualified from the Wait 21 program, can I join it again?

Absolutely! However, the recognition you receive will only be through the time you re-join the program.

How will colleges know that I successfully participated in the Wait 21 program?

Wait 21 discloses participants in its annual report so colleges may verify student’s participation.  Wait 21 also issues letters of recognition to participants in July for those who have been a part of the program over the past year.

Who is eligible to win scholarships?

Participants who have completed at least 1 year of the Wait 21 program and who have completed the 11th grade are eligible to win scholarships.  Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of Wait 21.
